How to Get Inspired by Vintage Style Muses
I show how to use vintage style muses to find pieces for your wardrobe
This week for my paid subs I put together a selection of pinterest boards of old Hollywood or vintage starlets in their body matrix types. As I was going through, I was so inspired by the styles I saw and could imagine how I might use them in a modern context. I thought I would show you my process with a few examples
You are never going to get direct replicas of these pieces, but you can use them to be inspired. This river island blue top echoes the draping of Vivien’s in Gone with the Wind in a way which would be perfect for a narrow round type without appearing too out of place.
Most menswear inspired pieces from vintage photos are so easy to replicate - don’t forget, if you can think of a style, you can probably find it in this world where tens of thousands of new pieces are added to the internet everyday.
When you split an outfit into its separate parts, it’s much easier to take your favourite parts of it and find versions which can slip into modern outfits. You could just pair this with a white tee and a pair of sandals and capture

Something like this wrap top from Mint Velvet is the perfect way to mimic this vintage inspired neckline. You could simply pair it with some black jeans and some pointed flats for a night out and capture the glamour of the original without overdoing it in the context of today’s world.

✨ Body matrix vintage pinterest Every so often I ask my paid members to suggest what pinterest board they would like me to create next. This week at their request I created a pinterest board different vintage starlets categorised by the body matrix (there isn’t every matrix type - if there’s anyone you think to add let me know below!!)
What’s the matrix type for Ingrid Bergman in the black and white dress?
It seems like there's not a lot of famous narrow long rounds (most are straight) and those that are have a lot of romantic. I do not, at least not the sexy aspect. Could I basically look at a narrow short/medium round celebs and just elongate the looks? I'm thinking of Norma Shearer who is probably the closest to me in both face and figure.
