🌻 What are style roots?
Style roots is a theory I propose where there are 8 distinct style personalities which are rooted in nature. Each style root is connected to nature, personality and aesthetic tastes - largely I focus on clothing, but this could also apply to interiors. By narrowing down to three roots in your personal style, you achieve two things
1. cohesive style
By narrowing down to three roots, you have a clear direction in where you would like your style to go. You can tell a clear, unique story using three roots.
2. flexibility
I feel that most style advice either suggests you pick one distinct style such as “feminine” and that has to be every outfit you wear, or wear anything and everything. Having three roots allows flexibility to try different aesthetics in a way which doesn’t lead you too far out of a circle, and a collection of clothing which ultimately all goes together
The 8 Style Roots: Breakdown
If you were to have only one essence, and be the paragon of that type, these are the features you might have. In real life, most of us have more than one essence (usually 3 dominant essences) so you will have a combination.
