People are not always great at understanding the difference between critique and criticism. I think you do a wonderful, nuanced job of explaining styles, essences, body types, etc. I'm glad you share your work with the world.
I love the way you describe the looks in the way that says "when she wears this, it portrays x y z." Not, she looks better in blah blah.
I'm using the style systems in the same way. When I want to feel confident, sexy I'll wear something slightly different to when I want to feel confident, compitent.
I personally love thinking in terms or archetypes. Who am I today? Goddess, wild woman, lover, mother, magical child etc in various degrees and proportions.
At the end of the day, consumers of your content will only be able to engage with it to the degree that they are educated and interested. Some people are stuck in the mindset of tearing others down is the only way to get a one up. And that's unfortunate but it's really not your problem. I think there's a fine line between explaining your systems in different ways until people understand vs constantly defending your systems against people who are purposesly or ignorantly being obtuse or just mean, from behind a keyboard.
Love your work. And wishing you such a happy time planning your wedding.
I’m sure you already know this but once my friend pointed this out to me, and I can’t unsee it now. I notice over and over that people like what they would choose for themselves. And it can be difficult for them to view what’s best for someone else. So perhaps what that commenter meant was just that it would feel boring on her.
I love and appreciate your work and the clarity it offers 🩷🩷🩷
Personally I don’t engage in style systems or make effort with my image to please others. I’m interested in style systems because I have a strong life long interest in style, fashion and I have an analytical mind. I like to look good but only through my own eyes , I want to feel good and feel like myself and engage in my passion. I don’t ask others for their opinions because the only opinion I care about is my own when concerning myself . I believe this is how everyone should feel , once your thinking about someone else’s views you loose your own , if you only care about someone else’s opinions of your style it isn’t Your style . Too many people view the world in black and white when the world is a rainbow full of nuances and feeling . Style is art developed by a creative and can only be seen through the eye of a creative so stop looking at style through the eye of an investigator . So many people also view others on the internet like objects and not as individual people with emotions and lives . It’s easy to forget that there is another person on the other side and your not just talking to your phone especially when it’s a celebrity who is less likely to talk to you directly and can bring jealousy or hate through their media personalities, headlines and gossip. Some people think social media couldn’t possibly affect them but we are all human and even if a particular celebrity wasn’t affected by what you said it would encourage others to speak to and about others like they are objects . I think using people on channels like this pushes the idea to people who unaware that people can be dissected. Maybe it would be better to use cartoons/drawings/silhouettes rather than people ?
